Dental Fillings

Tooth composite resin fillings are used when cavities are found in order to protect the tooth from further damage. In order to complete the filling, the area is numbed and then the cavity is removed and the teeth is cleaned to make sure we get all the bacteria out. Once the tooth is ready, the amalgam or composite goes over it. Amalgam is the silver colored material and the composite is the bio-compatible material that will match your teeth.

Dental amalgam is comprised of approximately 43-54 percent of mercury with a mixture of other metals including silver, copper and tin. Composite is a mix of acrylic resin and powdered glass-like particles that produce a tooth-color filling.
